Greetings from the School Nurse
Summer is upon us, and I hope it will be a beautiful one full of rest and relaxation for your family!
I wanted to send out some important health information. The time will go fast and before you know it, we will be back in school.
MEDICATIONS
Per CCS Board of Education policy, all medications, prescriptions, and over the counter require authorization from a healthcare provider on the specific form (attached). Please be considerate and do not ask any staff member to administer your child's medication without an order. If your child needs medication or a pain reliever, you are most welcome to come administer it to them or pick them up if you weren’t able to have the form completed and returned to the Nurse. If your child is prescribed any narcotic medications such as Percocet, Oxycontin, Vicodin, Codeine, Morphine, Tramadol, etc., it is imperative that you contact the nurse before sending them to school while taking these medications.

HEALTH CONDITIONS
If your child has a health condition that requires emergency rescue medication such as an Asthma inhaler, Epi Pen, Seizure medication, Diabetes medication, etc., please provide the Nurse with the following before the first day of school: (I will be available August 11 -22, 2025, for this)
* “Emergency action plan” from the Healthcare provider.
* Labeled, Unexpired, Unopened rescue medication indicated on the plan.
* If your child will need health accommodations for a condition or post-surgical such as wheelchair, crutches, or has a change in health status;
* Please contact your Nurse so we can be prepared and proactive in case of any emergency. If over the Summer, please reach out via email to: khollingsworth@camden.k12.nc.us

SENIORS
A booster dose of the Meningococcal conjugate vaccine is required for individuals entering the 12th grade or by 17 years of age, whichever comes first. Please provide the nurse with a copy of your child’s immunization record reflecting the booster, or submit your vaccine exemption documentation no later than 8/12/25 (CECHS) and 8/23/25 (CCHS) to avoid any learning disruption. If the first dose is administered on or after the 16th birthday, a booster dose is not required.
Thank you so much and have a wonderful Summer!
